WHY GO ON A FLUO NIGHT DIVE?
A fluorescent night dive is a truly out-of-this-world experience! Two key pieces of gear allow this to happen. Firstly, you have the special UV flashlights that you will carry. Secondly, there are also special lens filters that you can fit onto your mask. We will provide all of this to you when you sign up.
Those two pieces of gear will unlock a world you never knew was there! They will allow you to see what happens when high-energy light is absorbed and re-emitted as low-energy light. Certain organisms will glow in bright neon colors as a result of this. Colors range from purple, red, pink, blue, and green! We recommend checking out anemones as it is amazing to see glowing tentacles flap back and forth. Even bigger plus if you see a Clownfish. Read More

WHAT HAPPENS IN FLUO NIGHT DIVE
Let’s learn a bit more about fluorescence, shall we? Essentially, it is when excitation of light is absorbed by a material. The emission that comes out happens just nanoseconds after and has a longer wavelength. Many confuse this with phosphorescence. Phosphorescence is when light is stored then emitted over a long period of time. In addition, it’s important to note that it is not bioluminescence. Bioluminescence is when light is produced by organisms.
So why exactly do marine animals have fluorescence?
Fluorescence is found in corals, sponges, anemones, nudibranchs, fish, and all sorts of other marine creatures. It is clear that there are evolutionary benefits that come with fluorescence. The best wavelength for fluorescence Read More

“Wow! I’ll never forget my first fluo night dive. Being a new diver with about twenty dives logged, I was very wary of night diving. Not sure to understand why everyone was so into it. While I was encouraged to try a night adventure dive, we had a foul night dive scheduled this same evening, so why not give it a go! More experienced divers were saying that all the mystery and magic of night diving is intensified with that glowing fluorescent light and really I couldn’t say it better! This dive was the best memory and definitely the highlight of my diving holidays.”
