Coral Restoration Nusa Lembongan is a dynamic three-and-a-half-day program. Notably, it comprises six dives and numerous educational sessions. This course goes beyond being a mere activity. DAY 1
Right on day one, the program springs into action with a two-hour theory class on Coral Reefs. Essentially, this day offers an introduction to coral restoration. It spotlights substrate identification and basic knowledge of fish and invertebrates, laying a strong foundation for the days ahead.
DAY 2
As day two commences, the first two dives come to the forefront. These take around 5 hours, subject to the boat schedule. Specifically, the morning dives present an opportunity to identify fish and invertebrates in their own habitat. Subsequently, the afternoon brings a two-hour theory class on Coral Watch. In this session, you delve deeper into the finer points of reef structures and restoration techniques.
DAY 3
On day three, the morning devotes itself to the third and fourth dives. These dives span roughly 5 hours and are for observing substrate and conducting a Coral Watch. Later in the afternoon, a two-hour theory class on Reef Restoration commences. This class enriches your understanding of substrate identification and nudges you closer to the heart of coral restoration work.
DAY 4
Day four, finally, signifies the program’s climax. The morning allocates time for the final two dives, each lasting about 5 hours. Importantly, during these dives, you engage actively in the restoration process. You do this by collecting coral fragments and affixing them to an artificial reef.
